It's that time of year again...

Aglio Olio e Peperoncino is back.

It's like a tradition, it's become a yearly custom.
Come the end of May the domain name "aglioolioepeperoncino.com" expires without forewarning and I have to spend a ridiculous number of hours on the phone with evanescent Google representatives, and aggravated hosting company technicians, trying to reactivate it.

~ the dreaded screenshot - year 2 ~
This blog holds over 3 years of my life, along with several thousand photos of my city, my child, my kitchen; laced with successful recipes and epic intervals between posts; personal accounts relating to my culinary triumphs and romantic failures; it contains the loving and warm comments left by unknown followers and old friends, even friends who are no longer with us. I hold the contents of this blog very dear.

I don't know what will happen this time next year. You may find yourself here again, reading my post-reactivation rant. To avoid that, and break the annual tradition, I could switch to a new web hosting and publishing platform. Who knows, I may even change the damn domain name. I promise to warn you, whatever my decision will be.

One thing is sure, I won't ever take this site down. I care about this blog and its readers.

I hope you do too.

Buona notte,
Eleonora

  3. So, Ele, I've set my iPhone calendar for a yearly reminder on May 25. I'll give you a fair warning that the expiry time is getting close.......I don't want to lose you - ever!

  5. Oh, drats, Eleonora!

I am utterly delighted that you managed to wrestle another year out of the claws of Google (first time I hear that one can actually talk to them)! What a scary bummer, though.

Now I wonder what will happen with mine. I gave them my credit card number. Hopefully that will do the trick.

  6. How frustrating! Who is your host?? I'm glad you're back, I love your blog, though I don't frequently comment... (I have a theory that 'older' people are less likely to comment than younger, what do you think?)

You're too sweet! If it weren't for you I never would have noticed that the site was down. Grazie!!

    Janie~
Thanks for your sweet comment <3
You know, you can follow my (sporadic) Rome photo blog posts HERE

    Merisina~
If you opted for an automatic renewal, keep a close watch on the situation, because that's what happened to me LAST year, the payment goes thru automatically on your end, but then Google sometimes "forgets" to settle the payment/deal with the hosting service... And by the way, all I got in terms of phone "assistance" was that they don't offer LIVE ASSISTANCE, only online... Grrrr

    Fern~
Thanks you so much for taking the time to leave your sweet words here! I think there should be no age limit to communicating, even if via blog comment! :))) I'm a terrible commenter, but I love when I get them <3

    Eleonora,
thank you so much for your blog, it's really different from others out there (in a good way) I hope you will never stop writing about food and Rome. I am from Rome, now living in the USA and thanks to you I can feel a bit closer to home.
Grazie davvero mi fai sentire ancora a casa.

    Ciao
    Elvy
